Schlenker Family Climbing Wall
The new technical climbing wall, constructed by Dream Climbing Walls and part funded by a generous donation from the Schlenker Family, is located in the original four-court sports hall and was designed by leading Scottish climber Scott Muir.
The University is a partner organisation of Climb Scotland who are part of Mountaineering Scotland – Scotland’s representative organisation for mountaineers, hillwalkers and climbers.
Climb Scotland help inspire young people across Scotland to get climbing, while giving parents, schools, colleges, youth organisations and climbing walls the skills and support to meet young peoples’ climbing needs.
The wall
The climbing wall comprises of multi-faceted plywood climbing surfaces with slabs, overhangs, vertical walls, columns, aretes and corners. There are 17 anchor points that offer both top roped and lead climbing options, plus 3 additional points at the end of the lead roof. The wall has something to offer all levels of climber from complete beginner to those climbing harder grades, 3+ to 7C+. We offer courses for children and adults. You can hire climbing shoes, harnesses and belay devices should you need to from our reception.
Please note!
After a recent review, we have taken the decision to no longer make helmet wearing mandatory for under 16’s in instructor led sessions.
Ultimately the parent/carer has the final call and you can ask that you child wears a helmet during the session.
Please feel free to chat to Jake Lovatt, Climbing Wall Instructor about this should there be any questions, at a session or email [email protected]

These sessions can be arranged with our Climbing Wall Instructor with session times available during the day.
