The University of St Andrews Rifle Club has had a very successful March with great finishes in BUCS and SSS tournaments, having placed amazingly in both tournaments!

On March 2nd, the Rifle 1st BUCS team travelled to Stavely to compete in the BUCS Short-Range team finals. After qualifying in fourth via the postal league held throughout the year, the team performed incredibly, with each member putting in a performance to be proud of.

Out of a possible 400, the team scores were as follows: K. Noble – 388; E. Trace – 386; W. McMullan – 384; A. Cardash-Crowsley – 384; N. Searight – 382; A. Horwitz – 382. Producing a total score of 2306/2400, the team secured a second-place finish! Each member trained incredibly hard in the run up to this competition and we are incredibly proud of all they have achieved.

The next day, captain Kirsty Noble competed in the individual finals. Having qualified in fifth place, she performed exceptionally, beating shooters on the GB squad to finish second overall with a score of 387/400. The Rifle Club incredibly proud of her growth as a shooter, having only started the sport last year. It is truly a testament to her work ethic and drive.

Following a successful BUCS season, on March 30th , the SSS team of 8 travelled to Aberdeen for the SSS Outdoor Championships. Outdoor shooting requires a degree of compensation for wind however the team do not get to practice outdoors as much as they would like to. However, they were able to put their indoor technique to use and achieved some incredible scores and amazing results.

Kirsty Noble achieved a second place finish in the Women’s individual, closely followed by Alexi Cardash-Crowsley in Third. Ashley Lim finished first in the C-class Individual. In the pairs competition, Kirsty and Alden Horwitz achieved first in A class, and Alexi and Ellie Trace achieved first in B class. The Ladies triad (Kirsty, Ellie, and Alexi) finished first, and both their A class and B class quartets finished in first place in their respective categories.

The club are so proud of all of our competitive team members, coaches, and recreational members for all their hard work and individual successes throughout the year, and we are so proud of the club for their amazing achievements! Congratulations to the club and all the players.
