The Triathlon and Road Cycling Club have started off the year strong with amazing results at Go Swim Loch Lomond and Go Swim Loch Morlich, an open water swimming race in Loch Lomond and Loch Morlich!

After an eventful journey and chaotic swim start at Loch Lomond, there was a strong trio of St Andrews swimmers braving the chilly temperatures and flying fists to finish strongly in their respective races. Maria Ramirez Rodriguez came in as 1st female junior in the 1.5km. David Quinn followed Maria as 2nd male junior in the 1.5km and Peter Boardman brought the team home as 1st male senior in the 750m.

The club also brought another strong group of eight swimmers to Loch Morlich the following week and brought over some amazing results there as well!

In the women’s races, Millie Tunnicliffe came 2nd in the 3km and was the 2nd senior woman, only 20 seconds behind the winner after over 45 minutes of swimming! Rachel Parker brought the team to 5th overall and was placed the 3rd senior woman in the 3km! Valentine Salinger was placed as the 9th female senior!
And in the men’s races, Nathaniel Rice came in as 3rd male senior in the 1.5km, followed by David Quinn who was placed 2nd male junior in the same event! Dropping down to the 750m, John Macleod and George Dance were placed 1st and 2nd male seniors respectively!

With few opportunities for open water swimming, these races were certainly a welcome change from pool swimming. Massive congratulations to all the participants. What an amazing way to start the semester!
