About the leagues

• Match rules

  Team captains are responsible for ensuring that all players within their team abide by the rules of the tournament, adhere to Saints Sport’s Terms and Conditions and maintain the highest standards of sporting behaviour. The success of the competition depends on it.

  • Matches last 80 minutes with each half being 40 minutes long and with a five minute break at half time. Each fixture is designated a 1.5 window in which it must be played. Any time within this window before the game starts may be used for warming up. The kick off time is at the discretion of the referee within these stated limits.
  • Matches begin with a predetermined team kicking off from the centre. How this team is determined is to be decided by the referee but he/she must do so using a fair, transparent method (a coin toss is recommended). The captains or vice captains of both teams must agree to the decision before the game can proceed. The second half will commence with the alternate team kicking.
  • The referee’s decisions are to be respected and followed in all cases. If the referee makes a ruling that a team disagrees with then that team’s captain must lodge the complaint by email with the league organiser.
  • If a referee issues a red card points will be deducted – decided by the league organiser. Yellow cards will be counted and used in the instances that two teams have drawn, the team with less yellow cards will gain the advantage.
  • The captain of each team has a responsibility on the park to protect and support the authority of the referee. They should do all in their power to discourage the directing of verbal abuse towards the referee.
  • On the rubbercrumb pitch, standard studded or bladed football boots must be worn to protect the surface. Similarly for the injury prevention reasons players and officials are advised to avoid wearing trainers on the grass pitches.
  • All other rules of play are identical to those found in the Scottish FA’s “Laws of The Game” http://www.scottishfa.co.uk/scottish_football.cfm?page=3154 (with the omission of law six which deals solely with assistant referees).
  • Pitch Side/Centre Rules:
    • There is to be strictly no drinking at pitch side or anywhere on Saints Sport property. If spectators or inactive players are found to be drinking near pitches the game will immediately be stopped with one or both teams penalised points.
    • If a captain or the referee spots spectators drinking and they are engaged in play or are not comfortable asking those in question to stop then they must nominate an inactive player to either go to the reception or phone it in to reception on 01334462190. If drinking activity is called in using this manner there is a high probability that the match will be allowed to continue and neither team penalised in anyway.

• How to enter

  Spring leagues are now open for bookings! To enter your team please nominate one person to book a spot for your team via our online booking, contact our reception team in person or via phone at 01334 46 2190, once payment is received your team will secure a spot in the league and you will be sent a microsoft form to collect your team’s information.
