Sports coaching and officials grants

Saints Sport recognises the positive impact our student coaches, officials and volunteers have on the experience within their clubs and for the development of sport in the local area and beyond.

Students have many opportunities to gain coaching and officiating qualifications during their time at St Andrews and develop their skills in various training environments throughout the year.

We encourage students to take the next level of qualification when they are ready and offer grants to encourage and support their training and development to ensure that student led clubs offer the best possible experience for their members.

• Key information

  The grants will cover 30% of associated costs per course up to a maximum of £150.

  Please note that a student can claim a maximum of £250 over any twelve-month rolling period.

  If you have received funding from another source (such as sportscotland) you are only entitled to claim 30% of the remaining costs.

• Eligibility criteria

  To be eligible to apply, you must be a matriculated student at the University of St Andrews and meet the following criteria:

  1. Be a member of an AU club or be actively involved with an AU Sports Club or a Saints Sport programme
  2. Demonstrate how this course will allow you to positively impact an AU sports club or a Saints Sport programme

  If you do not fulfil the above criteria your application will not be considered.

• Application process

  1. Complete the online Application Form
  2. Your application will be reviewed, and you will be contacted via email on the outcome of your application.

  If your club is booking several people on the same course, please contact Nina Revell | Sports Development Officer | [email protected] and we will agree the best process for your circumstances.

• Payment of the grant

  You are required to complete and return the student-travel-and-subsistence-form and return with proof of payment for the course(s) you have attended:

  Student Expense Form

  You must include proof of payment, attendance, and successful completion of the course before payment is made.
