Funding and grants
Our ever-expanding workforce of student volunteer coaches, referees and umpires is vital for supporting the scale and variety of activity that makes sport a central part of the unique student experience at St Andrews.
We offer financial support to help our volunteers achieve additional extra-curricular qualifications whilst studying at St Andrews.
Sports coaching and officials grants
Saints Sport recognises the positive impact our student coaches and officials have on the experience within their clubs and for the development of sport in the local area and beyond.
Through the Saints Coaching programme students have many opportunities to gain coaching and officiating qualifications during their time at St Andrews and develop their skills in various training environments throughout the year.
We encourage students to take the next level of qualification when they are ready and offer significant grants to support their training and development.
All of our student coaches, volunteers and officials seeking to develop their skills and achieve additional extra-curricular qualifications whilst at university can apply for funding to subsidise the cost of external courses.
You can find out if you are eligible and can apply for funding through the Club Portal.
sportscotland offer a range of subsidies to support coaches through recognised governing body qualifications.
Discounts are available to coaches depending on the candidate requirements for each sport.
Applications can be made via the dedicated portal on the sportscotland website.
