Three University of St Andrews students have been awarded Winning Student 100 Scholarships for the 2024/25 academic year. Lucy Jamieson and Ellie Monk both Golf Performance Scholars and Kristina Armstrong, Canoe Salom Scholar were among the 100 students selected for this prestigious scholarship.
The Winning Students 100 programme, launched in 2008 has already helped over 1500 student athletes including World and Olympic Champions. The programme is a partnership between sportscotland, Scottish Funding Council and Higher/Further Education institutions. The aim of the programme is to support high performance athletes through high intensity training schedules as well as academic support throughout their university careers. Student-athletes can be supported with grants of up to £3000 per annum, as well as tailored support through the University and help with academic flexibility.
Kristina, who is a double U23 European Championship Gold medallist and double bronze medallist at the Junior World Championships said “This is a significant opportunity for my athletic development and potential Olympic career. Despite the challenges of balancing a full-time university course, the scholarship helps make it possible to pursue both athletic and academic goals. I am very grateful for the support from everyone involved”
