The University of St Andrews produced a series of outstanding individual performances at the opening event of the 2026-27 BUCS Golf Tour season, with Mattison Frick claiming her first BUCS Autumn Trophy title at Alyth Golf Club.

Frick led a strong St Andrews contingent in the women’s competition, carding rounds of 70, 68 and 70 to finish five-under-par and secure victory by a single shot. A birdie on the 18th hole provided a fitting finish to a superb tournament and sealed her maiden Autumn Trophy crown.

The St Andrews women dominated the top of the leaderboard, with Chloe Tarkany finishing tied second after rounds of 71, 69 and 69 left her just one shot behind Frick on four-under-par. Mathilda Orring also featured prominently throughout the championship, opening with a brilliant five-under-par 67 before finishing tied fourth on two-under-par.

The trio’s exceptional performances highlighted the depth of talent within the St Andrews programme and helped the University secure both the individual title and the Women’s 1st Team championship.

The success continued in the men’s competition, where Edward Greenslade delivered a consistently impressive week to finish runner-up. Rounds of 68, 70 and 71 saw him end the event at one-under-par, just short of the title.

Greenslade was joined in the top ten by several teammates. Ollie George claimed a share of sixth place after rounds of 70, 71 and 72, while James Whitworth and Spencer Turtz both finished tied ninth on four-over-par. Turtz produced one of the rounds of the tournament with a second-round 67 to propel himself into contention.

With six St Andrews golfers finishing inside the top ten across the men’s and women’s competitions, the University made a strong statement at the opening event of the BUCS Golf Tour and Macpherson Order of Merit season.

The performances also earned valuable Order of Merit points as St Andrews golfers begin their pursuit of qualification for the BUCS Golf Tour Finals later in the season, providing an excellent platform for the months ahead.
