Saints Rugby player Deke Behnam was selected to represent the United States of America at the Men’s U20 Atlantic Youth Touch Cup played at Nottingham University.

The competition hosted in July, included 10 different countries completing for the title over three days. Deke’s pool included England, South Africa and Scotland, playing three matches a day and after a hard few games the USA placed fourth overall at the tournament. This was an exciting tournament ahead of the Touch Rugby World Cup which will be held next year.

Director of Rugby Dave Morris said ‘Since Deke arrive at the University last academic year he has represented himself, his family, Saints Sport and the University with distinction. To be selected to represent your country it is a huge honour. Everyone at Saints Rugby is extremely proud of Deke’s achievements. Saints Rugby programme provides a diverse playing offer consisting of men’s and women’s 15 a side and 7 a side, mixed touch rugby and beach touch rugby. Deke’s international selection is great example of our programme helping players achieve their aspirations. I have no doubt that Deke will inspire others to future representative success and the continued growth of our touch rugby section.’
