Our team of full-time Sports Assistants are here to provide you with the very best experience during your visit to the gym and can offer support and guidance in relation to safe and effective practice.

What’s involved?

A gym induction at the university sports centre is a great way for new students to get started with their fitness journey in a safe and supportive environment. Led by experienced staff, the induction introduces students to the layout of the gym, demonstrates how to use key equipment correctly, and covers important health and safety guidelines.

It’s also a chance to ask questions, learn how to structure workouts, and discover additional services like fitness classes and personal training.

Whether you’re new to the gym or just need a refresher, the induction helps build confidence and ensures you get the most out of your membership from day one.

Quiet Gym Sessions

We know that a quieter, more relaxed environment can make a big difference for some members. To support this, we’re introducing dedicated quiet hours:

  • Thursdays | 6:30am – 12:00pm
  • Sundays | 8:00am – 12:00pm

During these times:

  • No music will be played in the gym
  • We encourage everyone to help keep the space calm and respectful
  • You’re welcome to bring your own music and wear headphones

These sessions are designed to create a more relaxed, quieter space – ideal if you prefer to focus and train without background noise, or if a typical gym setting feels overwhelming.

Whether you’re a current member or new to the gym, everyone is welcome.
