Saints Sport Scholars Gather for Inspiring Evening at Parliament Hall
Last night, Saints Sport hosted its annual Scholars’ Evening Reception in the historic setting of Parliament Hall, St Andrews. The event brought together current scholars, alumni, and supporters for an evening of networking, insight, and celebration of sporting excellence at the University of St Andrews.
Guests enjoyed a fireside chat with Gary Davidson, Group COO of 54 Group and former R&A Golf Scholar, who shared his remarkable journey from captaining the University’s Men’s First Golf Team to building a global career in sports investment, sponsorship, and event management. Gary reflected on his experiences co-founding 54 Group, shaping LIV Golf’s commercial strategy, and driving innovation across the international sports industry.
The conversation was expertly hosted by Caroline Blair, an accomplished broadcaster and stadium presenter known for her work with Sky News, BBC, and Scottish Rugby. Caroline brought her trademark energy and insight to the discussion, creating an engaging and thought-provoking dialogue for all in attendance.
The evening concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where scholars asked Gary questions about his career and leadership journey, with Caroline facilitating the discussion to ensure a dynamic and engaging exchange.
We were also delighted to recognise four of the five St Andrews student-athletes named in Scotland’s prestigious Winning Students 100 Programme, presenting them with their official kit:

The evening provided a unique opportunity for scholars to connect with alumni who have gone on to achieve success at the highest levels of sport and business. It also highlighted the transformative impact of the Saints Sport Scholarship Programme in supporting student-athletes to excel both academically and athletically.
