Clean Shot Victories for UStA Rifle
Recently, the University of St Andrews Rifle Team competed in the Aberdeen, RGU, Edinburgh and Glasgow Legacy Grand Prix (GP) shooting competitions.
Each GP is a 1-day event with Team of 8, 4, pair and individual competitions under the format of 2 10-minute timed cards shot individually. 12 members took part in Aberdeen and RGU GPs and 14 members took part across the Edinburgh and Glasgow events. Team highlights include the Team of 8 and Team of 4 winning the Aberdeen GP, with Alden Horwitz and Lewis Smith winning the A class pairs competition. St Andrews B pair (Shawn Lin and Ashley Lim) won the B Class pairs at the Aberdeen and RGU GPs. St Andrews A (Kirsty Noble and Ellie Trace) won A pairs at the Edinburgh and Glasgow GPs. The Ladies Triad (Kirsty Noble, Ellie Trace and Alexi Cardash-Crowsley) also won the Edinburgh and Glasgow GPs after finishing 2nd at the RGU event.
Individual highlights include President of the club, Kirsty Noble winning A Class in the Glasgow GP, scoring 198 out of 200 possible points, who has risen to the top of the team after only 2 full years with the club, displaying a natural and mental ability rivalling those that have shot for decades! She was also captain of the smallbore club last year. Other notable players include, Alden Horwitz who won A Class at the Edinburgh GP, Shawn Lin with B Class at both the Aberdeen and RGU GPs and a host of top 3 scores, including James Grace coming 2nd in B Class at the Edinburgh GP, Alden Horwitz coming 2nd in A Class in the Aberdeen GP, Lewis Smith coming 3rd in A Class at the Aberdeen GP, Alex-Cardash-Crowsley coming 3rd in A Class at the Glasgow GP, Ashley Lim coming 3rd in B Class at the Aberdeen GP and Magnus Gunn and Eddie Williams coming 2nd and 3rd in the Glasgow GP Novice class.
