Ryan Glymond has been a part of the Rowing Club with us for the past four years. Before that, he learned to row during his undergraduate degree in the North East. He has been rowing and coxing for nine years now. “I had a really good experience, it was a brilliant race and we were just on the wrong side of the result. The crew was awesome and it came together really well, I’m very proud of them” says Ryan.
The Beach Sprints took place in Italy on the last weekend on September. Gregor placed 9th overall during the time trial in the men’s single but was later knocked out by New Zealand in a close race. Ryan, coxing the mixed coastal quad, placed 5th in the world after posting the quickest losing time in the quarter finals.
Gregor, who has previously competed in the World Rowing Beach Sprints said, “The standard year on year in Beach sprints in leaping forward (significantly higher than 2022). I am proud I could prove I am still in the up there in the mix with the best in the world. I have taken away key learnings from this Championship to work throughout winter and next season to come back stronger and faster next year, and hope to represent GB for the 3rd consecutive year in Beach Sprints at Genova, Italy for the World Finals”.
Huge congratulations to the two for this amazing achievement! We couldn’t be prouder of them!
