Hockey scholar Emily Dark invited to train with Senior GB Women’s Hockey squad

A University of St Andrews hockey player has been invited to train with the full Senior GB Women’s Hockey team.

Emily Dark, a third year physics student will join the squad at Bisham Abbey from Saturday if Covid restrictions allow.

Emily is a Scottish Senior Women’s Hockey Internationalist and is part of the performance hockey programme at the University. She has won the Chancellor’s Award for Sporting Excellence for the past two years – the highest sporting accolade the University bestows.

Emily is a Scottish Institute Supported Athlete with 23 Scotland Senior Women’s Hockey Team caps. She is currently on the GB Elite Development Programme and last year achieved a gold medal and was U21 Player of the Tournament at the European Championship II Division for Scotland in Glasgow in August 2019.

She also took bronze at the Indoor European Championship II division in Croatia in January this year and a gold medal and player of the tournament at the Indoor European Club Challenge I in Porto and February 2020.

Emily is Captain of Dundee Wanderers Ladies 1sts and was selected to play for Scotland v New Zealand and USA and for GB Elite Development Programme v Belgium, before these games were called off due to the coronavirus outbreak.
